Introduced in 1946. The Saarinen Executive Chair with Plastic Back from Knoll boasts tubular steel legs beneath a contoured seating surface sculpted to cradle the user in comfort. Designer Eero Saarinen didn’t want to rely too much on the thickness of the cushions to provide comfort, and so he crafted a fluid-looking chair that uses the shape of its shell to create a comfortable seat. The smooth plastic back and plywood seat achieve this goal while providing an architectural and versatile quality.
