The Hudson Chandelier from Maxim Lighting arranges several tapered glass cylinders around a central point rather than grouping them into a single form. Each shade gradually narrows from top to bottom, shaping the light into a soft, even glow rather than directing it in a single clear direction. Curved arms extend outward from the stem to hold each shade in place. Manufactured from steel and glass, the chandelier keeps its structure open, letting each arm and shade remain fairly distinct from the others.

Back in 1965, Jacob Sperling came to Los Angeles to study aeronautical engineering. Inspired by a job working for a lighting retailer, he turned his mechanical skills to the manufacture of lighting fixtures, building them in his garage and selling them out of his station wagon. In 1970, he brought brother Zvi on to help, and Maxim Lighting was born.
