Iconic Modern Style
Verified Buyer
We love our white lacquered Artek K65 High Chairs. The classic modern style perfectly fit the bill for our contemporary kitchen. The low back means when the chairs are pushed in at the island they "disappear" from the room. We debated between white or natural wood finish. We love the color however the disadvantage is if they fall or get banged into (when, not if!) the paint can chip off. The wood chair would not have this problem. Though they are not as comfortable as an upholstered chair would be, they are surprisingly comfortable for all wood. The foot rest is the perfect height. We thought the backrest would be too low to be effective but it does offer some support. The quality of the chair is excellent. We are very happy with these iconic chairs.
Artek
In 1935, Alvar and Aino Aalto, Maire Gullichsen and Nils-Gustav Hahl teamed up to "promote a modern culture of habitation by exhibitions and other educational means." They wanted to change the way the public viewed modern design by incorporating their beautiful, simple, functional designs into everyday life. "Artek" is a mashup of Art and Technology and sums up the company's philosophy.
