Light is directed downward and has your basic hardwire installation. It's easy to install and hardware is included. I love this light!

kichler.com/This was easy to install, like any standard electrical light installation. The fixture has a few links of chain at the top, which allows for movement. This is something I hadn't considered in my space as we get a lot of wind being out in the country and it does move with the wind. I see myself constantly adjusting it to look right. The pictures show it hanging straight in one photo and crooked in the next. Love Kichler durability though and it is obvious that this is well made and a beautiful design.
