The Gregg Outdoor Pendant Light from Foscarini is a product of natural inspiration and exhaustive research, reminiscent of a large pebble whose surface has been polished by water. Designed by Ludovica and Roberto Palomba, this product's smooth surface comes from the rotational-molded polyethylene construction, which is a lightweight, shock-resistant, and weather-proof material. The light from within the polyethylene shade provides steady illumination that provides outdoor spaces with a magical glow.

Indoor style outdoors

I got a few of these to have a cross between an eclectic paper lantern look and a refined indoor pendant look. They hit the mark. The material is a medium-weight plastic, exactly what you would image from looking at the photos. There is a tiny horizontal seam on these, but you wouldn't see it unless you're up close and really looking for it.

Statement piece but there are issues

I've had the XL pendant for 5 years. It's out in the open, hanging from a pergola beam, and I receive a lot of compliments on it. It looks like the moon at night, and I would give it 5 stars for appearance. Recently the same issue happened to me as it did to another reviewer. The wires came out of the light bulb socket, and the entire fixture fell to the ground undamaged. It's repairable, but it's the middle of winter and it'll have to wait until Spring to be repaired. I'm actually surprised that it's lasted this long given the beating that it takes out in the elements, but you expect an outdoor fixture to be built for such conditions. Also note that the surface often needs to be cleaned from algae and mildew with a good cleaning solvent. The surface has a slight roughness to it attracting dirt and other elements of nature.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

Foscarini

Founded on the Murano island in Venice, Italy in 1981, Foscarini started out creating blown glass-based lighting. They eventually expanded into other materials (the first being the Havana in 1993), and moved in 1994 to the Marcon area of Venice, into a building that reflected the modern aesthetic of their contemporary lighting. Success led to brand stability and swiftly growing name recognition.
