Named for a toy, the fixture rises high from an enameled steel base to become a legendary favorite of interior decorators, awards committees, and museum patrons alike, securing its spot in the New York Museum of Modern Art. The simple metal elements demand to be beheld, threading a slim steel stem up through a curved bracing arm and supporting a large upright lamp suggestive of a vehicle headlight, designed to bring indirect illumination to all and sundry. The lamp’s cord proceeds playfully through a series of fishing rod rings that keep it in line with the stem, while a nautical-style cleat around the lower part of the stem secures excess cordage, avoiding any tripping hazards while adding a final whimsical element.
