The effortless design and crisp light of the Float Pendant by SkLO bring serenity to its surroundings. This minimal piece combines contemporary design with artisanal materials and processes to ensure no two pieces are alike. A circular metal canopy sends a thin stem to a glass sphere-shaped shade. Its handblown Czech glass shade is given a fire-polished mouth with a molten, organic shape that instantly draws the eye and brings a natural element to its design. Its light filters through the glass, brightening the room and highlighting its distinct handmade silhouette. Designed by SkLO partners Karen Gilbert and Paul Pavlak, this piece showcases the duo’s desire to highlight skilled Czech glasswork.

SkLO

Located in Northern California, SkLO is the brainchild of artist Karen Gilbert, architect Paul Pavlak, and Czech-native Pavel Hanousek. The three met in Healdsburg in 2009, and after discovering a unanimous passion for hand-blown glass (sklo means “glass” in Czech), they decided to create a multi-disciplinary studio focusing on glass lighting and accessory design.
