The Duchess 1-Light LED Wall Sconce from Maxim Lighting holds a single vertical glass rod against a round backplate, its surface textured with an icy, uneven finish that scatters light unevenly down its length. The backplate sits flush to the wall, keeping the whole fixture slim and close to the surface. Steel forms that backplate, anchoring the glass rod above it, so nearly all of the fixture's visual weight sits in that one tall, textured piece.

Maxim Lighting

Back in 1965, Jacob Sperling came to Los Angeles to study aeronautical engineering. Inspired by a job working for a lighting retailer, he turned his mechanical skills to the manufacture of lighting fixtures, building them in his garage and selling them out of his station wagon. In 1970, he brought brother Zvi on to help, and Maxim Lighting was born.
