The GUBI Bestlite BL1 Table Lamp is a design synonymous with the cross pollination of European modernism in the first half of the 20th century. Designed in 1930 by Robert Dudley Best of England, the task lamp features superbly crafted metal, smoothed and shaped according to the German Bauhaus school of thought which combines fine arts with craft. When brothers Jacob and Sebastian Gubi took over their parent’s furniture business in 2001, their voracious search and acquisition of iconic designs transformed GUBI in to the internationally recognized design house it is today. Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, GUBI is a purveyor of timeless and emerging lighting and furniture designs, many of which can be found in permanent collections around the world.
