Excellent design, poor construction
The Cabildo floor lamp features an excellent design and provides decent illumination for our living room, in which it replaces an Aton Terra (also from Artemide). We love the design and so far, everybody who saw it loves it. A little disappointing is the foot switch with dimmer made out of clear plastic; it looks a little cheap and would be adequate for an Ikea lamp. The craftsmanship however, is poor. The shade consists of 2 pieces, which are not sealed adequately so that light shines through the seam. I don't expect this from a lamp in this price range. Therefore, the overall 3 stars only. The assembly was not particularly easy. The foot fits to the post in one position only; this is not explained in the assembly instruction and requires 4 hands at least. It would be helpful if the position in which it fits together was indicated by markings. When completed, the post sits reliably stable on the foot.
Artemide
Artemide takes its name from Artemis, the Greek goddess of the moon—a reflection of the brand’s ethos in creating fixtures that deliver an elegant, ethereal glow. Founded in Milan in 1960 by Ernesto Gismondi and Sergio Mazza, Artemide has been a driving force in Italian modern design.
