The shade allows the light to be dispersed evenly which gives off a nice calming and relaxing feel. Another plus is the shade is easy to remove for cleaning. I think this light would make a great addition to any room. It is a simple sconce with a lot of style. Kichler never disappoints- quality lighting with beautiful design.
