I did not want one more remote to control the fan. The wall control was easy to install and easy to use.

I'm a lighting designer w/ a background in Industrial design. I love digging into the way lighting works and also the look and feel of the wall controls that service them. As this is a fan remote, it falls in the latter category. Honestly, as a wall control it leaves much to be desired. Here are the issues: -the white color does not match a standard Lutron/Leviton wall plate white -the small gray buttons are very disparate from current wall control color and form trends -the semantics of an on/off switch and an "on button" are ambiguous -the price point for this piece of RF equipment is excessive for what you are getting -considering the parent company (Generation Brands who makes high-end lighting like Tech Lighting) I would expect way more. Years ago, this would be a simple solution to overcome: use wall controls by a industry leader such as Lutron.. but alas since quality modern fans are now made with proprietary DC controls, and ELV controlled LED modules, that makes traditional mains controls nearly obsolete in this application. The fan companies are also incentivized to make their own proprietary controllers to create a high margin revenue stream. If I was a company like Lutron, I would get all the major fan companies on board for an agreed upon licensed fan control protocol, which provides consistent look/controls across a lighting control line, and would also allow connection to smart home RF standards like ClearConnect. They could charge big money for such a control, and since it's licensed, both the manufacturer and the fan companies would enjoy the profit.

I bought this item a month ago and it works perfectly. It integrates well and easily with my new Maverick Fan from Monte Carlo Fans. The installation instructions were quite good. One tip: make sure that the dip switches on this wall unit are set the same as the dip switches on the remote control units. Also, note that the fan has to be running one direction or the other before you can switch directions. The change direction function does not work if the fan is not running. I highly recommend this product since it will never suffer the problem of having a dead battery or getting lost (like a remote control). My only recommendation is to make the face a bright white rather than the dull white color that it is. A brighter white would better match standard white switch plate covers. Thanks!
