Warren Platner
Warren Platner is an American architect and interior designer. Born in 1919, his signature style seamlessly blended modernism with organic forms, creating pieces that were both functional and visually captivating. Platner's most famous work is the eponymous Platner Collection, introduced in 1966, which featured chairs, tables and stools characterized by their use of sculptural wire rods and circular motifs. According to Platner, each piece represented his attempt to infuse modernism with decorative and graceful design, such as designs seen in period style like Louis XV. Many of his designs from the collection continue to be in production from Knoll and remain icons of 1960s modernism. In 1955, he received the Rome Prize in Architecture and in 1985 was inducted into Interior Design magazine’s Hall of Fame. He died in 2006.
