Tizio 35 Table Lamp

This mid-sized version of the classic Tizio, two of which I have owned for years, seemed like the right size for night stand lighting. I had used the full sized ones for 30 years or so, and the transformer finally burned out on one so I thought I would downsize. The light generated is every bit what it was in the full sized version. These have not been modified for the LED world so they still have halogen lamping and still get very hot. The real problem I have with these lamps is that their balance is nowhere near as good as the originals. When you move these, either in rotation or even just along the pivot points on the frame, the are prone to fall over. I learned quickly that I have to be very deliberate in altering any position these lamps are in or they go crashing onto the floor. That said, the multiple accidents I have had with these resulted in no apparent damage. The snap connections of the frame parts just pop back together, current is restored and they are like new. If I had it to do over again, I would go back to the larger original version of these lamps. They are more costly but considering how long they last and how well they perform, I think it is worth the additional cost.

I have 4 other Tizio Lamps purchased over many years. Four on the Artemide associated pedestals. This purchase was to replace one that was damaged, broken connector at the end of the lamp wand, (I am still trying to find a repair for It in hopes of salvaging the lamp). It is very difficult to repair/service these lamps. (A similar situation happens with other designer furniture !!! - something to think about when specifying!).

For my purpose as a light on a bedroom side cabinet, this is better than the original, which I used for 30+ years. When the transformer on my old Tizio burned out and I needed a replacement light, I shopped around to see if there was something I preferred and there wasn't. Nonetheless, I thought I would try the mid-sized 35 rather than the original. It is perfect for a bedside surface. Still aimable and will balanced, it doesn't require as much space for turning so it's perfect in the position it is occupying. Now I have to buy another for the other side of the bed.

The Tizio 35 is a beautiful, well designed lamp. YLighting provided fast shipping and good service. Highly recommend.
