The piece exudes creator Christophe Pillet's design principles of simplicity and expressiveness. Pillet evokes the cognac or snifter glass's tulip silhouette with gentle curves. Muranese glass artists achieve the silhouette with an ancient Balloton technique that pushes blown glass into a solid cast. The glass is polished and fitted with a sleek metal mount to emphasize its contemporary personality. The tapered form and opaque quality of the glass help produce soft ambient light with a clean funneling quality.
