Nelson Pear Lotus Floor Lamp

In my opinion, the proportions are all off in this floor lamp. It is too short and too bulbous and not pleasing to the eye.

I was a little concerned about this lamp considering a previous review about its proportions, however; I can tell you that George Nelson knows what he's doing and that reviewer knows very little. The proportions are perfect. I immediately set it up in our living room and it looks beautiful. The shape of the shade is unusual and modern. Its the first thing I see when I walk into that room.

We've owned a George Nelson Bubble Saucer pendant, over our dining room table, for years and we love it. This floor lamp is similarly beautifully crafted. But it was about as bright as a night-light with the 60 watt bulb it came with in it. Not much of an improvement with the 100 watt we tried next (CFL, so it didn't run hot), and for kicks we even tried a 150 watt CFL. By this time it was bright enough to read by, but also casts a light across the room which I can only describe as making the area look like a dorm room. Unlike the Louis Poulsen floor lamp we had there before (and which we're now putting back) which cast a great down light as well as ambient light, this GNB is just weird. Customer service at ylighting, though, was as usual very helpful with the return process.

This floor lamp is so fabulous - it fits to any interiors. I am interior designers offering decor items to clients, and this lamp goes everywhere - looks modern, yet so classic.
