Atelier Wall Sconce

My washer drain hose was improperly installed and after a water power surge jumped the drain pipe and flooded my laundry room, pantry and kitchen. Since August, the world's slowest contractor has been fitting me in between other bigger jobs. I ordered the Atelier lights in August in anticipation of a speedy renovation. When they arrived I was delighted by the design and the quality. They are lovely and the price was exceptionally reasonable. The service I received was perfect. About a month ago, mid September, the work finally began in earnest. Everything had been torn out immediately ante deluvian and I've had no kitchen or laundry facilities since. New cabinet bases were built and installed, drywall/plaster repaired/replaced, pre-wiring run etc. and this week, three months after the flood occurred, the electrician installed the lights and I was delighted. They look fantastic! Today the floor tiles were laid, and next week they've promised to set the counter tops and install tile on walls! Then my lights will really pop! This whole experience has been a mixed bag...every vendor I ordered from, including Y lighting, provided exceptionally solid and friendly service. I was the one who sourced ALL the materials, not the contractor. Every craftsperson or subcontractor was skilled and pleasant. All the people I worked with, excepting the contractor and his administrative staff understood how to plan, organize, implement and measure their work. They had good project management skills that they were trained in or were Intuitive blessed with. If only the contractor and his administrative staff had those skills! At times through this process I became a high-riding b#*ch with the contractor, because it worked. It did not feel good, though. The fact that I had to take over sourcing and ordering materials or live with the contractors very limited choice of materials, mainly from Home Depot, still frosts me! I'm wishing I could send a message to contractors country-wide: Please, Don't take on more work than you can deliver on in a reasonable time period. Don't promise to show up and then fail to show or even call with an explanation. You're not perfect, neither is your customer, but you don't need to be rude or disrespectful of others' time commitments. Don't be greedy. Don't make your workers suffer because you're reluctant to hire adequate staff because of added expense for you. Treat your workers and customers with respect because they will ultimately make your company a success or a miserable failure. If you're an insurance construction operation, be objective and honest with everyone involved.
