Americana Floor Lamp

We use this fixture in our den next to a reading and tv watching chair. It looks very nice and the finish is well done but...a couple improvements would be very welcome. #1 Really, really wish it had a full-range dimmer switch on the socket instead of the on/off switch on the cord. Presently it is good for reading but when we watch movies or tv it is a bit too bright. The lack of a dimmer was nearly a deal breaker for me but I settled and am disappointed. #2 I wish the swing arm was slightly longer (or a double swing arm) with a slightly larger shade which would provide more impact in the room.
