Like out of an other world

This fan is expensive, considering that you can buy a ceiling fan at any home improvement store, but it is worth every cent. Not only that it moves air like a beginning tornado even at the lowest level, it is a contemporary master piece. Never before did I waste a single thought that a ceiling fan could be an eye catching part of interior design. The times when a paddle fan in the middle of the ceiling was hanging there because the pre-owner of your house just hung it there are history now, here comes design at its best. WOW! What is that?? Is that a part of an aircraft? Turn it on, NOW! Those are the kind of questions my friends asking me now, when the get in my house. Well, this fan is all of that. And then some. Don't miss it out.

Lovely to look at, loud enough to make you regret it!

This fan looks gorgeous. And the fans that spin individually and rotate as a unit sure do move a lot of air around. However, the motor itself is very noisy and there is a plastic braking mechanism that clanks around annoyingly as the unit spins/rotates. We had this fan in our bedroom and found it was impossible to sleep with it on, even after silencing that braking mechanism and having it stay stationary, not rotate. Just the sound of the motor alone was a grating racket. And the way the fans are oriented causes the air to move in such a way that it caused my hair to constantly tickle my face---it was impossible to sleep! We had a different (regular) ceiling fan before this one and it never did that. We have since moved this lovely but bothersome fan to a room where the noise is less of an issue. We now consider it an expensive mistake.

Great design quality control ???

This is a well styled and elegant product, however our electrician handed it back to me and said "I know this company, nice fans but now they mass produce ...yours has 2 stripped screws and a damaged shaft. You need a replacement because I cannot finish putting together your fan." Sure enough there were two recessed screws on the shaft that were machine drilled at an angle so it could not be assembled without drilling new screw holes. There is absolutely no possibility when I inspected the box that I would have seen the drilling defect. I am still waiting to find out if Matthews will swap out and replace the fan.

This is an amazing buy

Firstly, the other reviews that give this product less than 5 stars are both ridiculous. I agree it's tedious and annoying to find a faulty or defective product but that is just what happens. That can and has happened with just about every model of every ceiling fan to someone. The other review that complains about "noise" and hair being rustled? Are you kidding me? it's a FAN it moves air, if your fan can't rustle your hair, it's not working. Moving air causes noise. You can actually buy recordings of moving air referred to as Wind. If your fan isn't making any noise, it isn't moving any air and therefore isn't working. Now that I've addressed the non-issues. I can tell you I've had this fan for three years. It's gorgeous, is commented on by everyone and has been running jus about 24/7 since the day I got it. My only complaints is that because it has small blades and I elected to get the grill protectors it gets dirty and is tedious to clean.

Complements the theme of my home office

This fan complements the aviation theme of my home office. It was easy to install. It's louder than I expected even at the lowest speed and moves a pretty significant amount of air. I think it's a good value for the dollar compared to some of the more expensive fans with similar styling cues.
