Xtreme Ceiling Fan

The xtreme is rare in that it features aluminum blades instead of abs plastic. I suspect this is why it lists at a higher price than the outdoor H2O models. Other build features include robust and well thought out hardware (like two set screws for downrod security instead of one. Overall, I'm impressed with the quality, and quiet nature of this fan. We use it mainly to help redistribute heat in the winter, not much for summer cooling. Our tall ceilings allow the heat to hang at the top of the structure. My install was a little more difficult than most as I had to mount the fan to a steeply pitched ceiling at 16' high. I used the 36" downrod to place the fan 11" off the floor. A couple of install tips for anyone mounting to an angled ceiling; you will likely need a robust spider plate (adaptor plate) to mount to your junction box. The mount screws for the bracket need to be horizontal to the floor, and your junction box mounting screw holes will most likely be offset. You will also want to order the Minka A235 angled ceiling adaptor. Also, if at all possible, try to mount the blades while the fan assembly is still on the ground. Attaching blades while in the air is a pain, made somewhat easier by aligning the bottom blade plates to the blades and taping them to the blades (temporarily) so it's easier to align the holes while standing on a ladder. Overall, very happy with the purchase and would easily recommend to others.

Purchased two of these for a big pergola at an apartment complex. Could not be happier with how they look and function. Two of the smaller version look perfect together and move the air nicely over a very large area!

There's plenty of large fans out there but most of them have plastic blades. The Minka Aire Xtreme has solid aluminum blades that won't break. The entire fan is solidly built. The size is true to its measurement and guests without fail compliment how elegant and industrial it looks in our space. Airflow is fantastic with quiet and efficient DC motor. One gripe I have is I wish it had lights with an option to remove it. For the price, I was at least expecting an LED light. Minka Aire had a similar model with lights but it had plastic blades and the Xtreme had a better design; that's why it received only 3 stars for features and 4 stars for value. The fan has basic features only. Speeds 1 to 6, off, and a reverse function for winter operations, all by remote control. Installation is effortless. Don't get intimidated by all the screws, it's an easy installation and done all by myself with no assistance from anyone.

We needed a new larger fan for our family room and this fan works great. Keeps the air flowing and works awesome.

We bought the 72" Xtreme and liked it so much, that we decided to purchase the 96" for the family room. If you like the modern look, go BIG and choose the largest fan that fit's the room. Believe it or not, bigger really is better for that WOW FACTOR.
