Unacceptable Inventory Management and Customer Service

I have never reviewed anything online before but my experience with Lumens attempting to purchase this chair was disgraceful. The chair was on sale as an open box item with an additional 25% off. I called and spoke to a Lumens rep who confirmed that the item was still available and sent me a link to purchase. I completed the purchase, received a confirmation number and ship date and my credit card was charged. I called and spoke to the same rep several times over the next few days who continued to confirm my purchase. Five days later I received an e-mail stating that my order was cancelled and the item was not available. I escalated the issue to a manager and no explanation was provided as to why the inventory system failed so miserably and the best that Lumens was willing to offer was 10% off of the trade price that I was able to get for the chair at a competitor (plus nearly $500 in shipping), which was nearly $1600 more than my original Lumens order price. I fully understand that it was an open box item, there was only one left and it's first come, first served, but if the company wants to be regarded as a premium furnishings firm it needs to do much better than this. So very short sighted not to just offer me a replacement for the price that was confirmed on the original order, since the company has now lost a future customer and referral source who just prior to this had spent nearly $3500 on a separate furniture order from Lumens.
