A seat with a story. The Chaise Tout Bois from Vitra offers stately retro comfort to interiors with an abstract, angular design. A structurally strong wood seat originally designed in 1941 by renowned engineer and designer Jean Prouvé, it leverages his experience with modular construction and industrial production to create something at once durable and dramatic. Similar to other works, it uses wood rather than the metal that was heavily demanded by the war industry. The chair’s central focus is strength and a robust connection between the chair’s seat and rear legs, juxtaposing slender, strong molded plywood of the seat and back with solid wood legs in an expressive, supportive construction.
