The Chandra Story
Chandra was established in 2006 in Adairsville, GA, by Chandra Tiwari. A native of India, Tiwari started his self-named business with more than 25 years of experience in the rug business. In other words, Tiwari was more than qualified to achieve success in his job of importing only the finest quality rugs from Bhadohi, India. Chandra rugs are made there by hand, many of them incorporating designs by some of today's premier textile designers, such as Amy Butler and Thomas Paul.
Why We Love Chandra Rugs
Rugs need to both look good and feel good to have the greatest impact in a space. Chandra rugs meet both requirements through the use of "feet-friendly fibers" and stunning designs. Plus, there's the knowledge of the great amount of care that has gone into the production of each area rug. The weaving and tufting by hand of Chandra rugs is not only respectful of the time-honored tradition of handmade Indian rugs, it minimizes any environmental impact (no machines equals no pollution).
Fun Facts About Chandra
Chandra bases its mode of operations on the Sanskrit greeting, Namaste, or "the light in me welcomes the light in you." This mantra encompasses Chandra's focus on the importance of personal touch in both business and design.
