One in a series of minimalist, modern white lights by Ville Kokkonen. The Artek Bright White 1 Table Lamp is much more than white, bright light...it is the "crystallization of the meaning of well being, striving for immateriality." White 1 is also designed for use as a bright light therapy lamp.
Designer Ville Kokkonen spent nearly two years designing the White product range, undertaking in-depth research on the use of lights in public, domestic, and office spaces as well as the effect of light itself on health and wellbeing. Kokkonen explains, "For too long light has been overshadowed by the fitting. Right from the beginning of the design process we felt that there would be room for a lamp that allows light to rule. The biggest tribute for White would be that people remember its soft light but have no idea how the lamp itself looked."
Founded in Finland in 1935 by four self-proclaimed idealists, Artek stands strong on the company's ethics, product aesthetics and ecology. With products that offer the Scandinavian look--clean lines, minimal fluff--Artek has built a line that incorporates a modern, approachable appeal into modern furniture and lighting design.
