Enric Sòria and Jordi Garcésis modeled the Sylvestrina Rechargeable LED Table Lamp after a beautifully lit oil lamp and shaped its rugged and elegant personality after an old fisherman, Silvestre, from El Port de la Selva. First introduced in 1974, this piece sports today’s LED technology and portable battery systems, fitting of the take-anywhere design of classic oil lamps. It rests over your floor or table in a refined Zamak metal base fitted with a li-ion battery and port for easy charging. Its clear Pyrex glass tube isn’t merely a shade, it’s a discreet switch for the light. A push down on the cylinder sends up a stream of warm LED light that glazes the inner translucent diffuser like a soft flame. As a defined light hits the center point of the glass, Enric Sòria and Jordi Garcésis welcome you to wonder if it is half-empty or half-full with light, an idea telling of the duos philosophical approach to design.
