Wondrously flowing light. The Squiggle Figure 8 LED Chandelier from Rotaliana by Luminart floats overhead as a piece of functional art with seemingly magical properties. The piece recreates the magic designer Paolo Rizzato experienced when he saw the gestural neon light installation by Lucio Fontana as a child, with an emphasis on today’s technology. Originally displayed in the 9th Triennale of Milan in 1951, Fontana’s piece paved the way for what light could look like in the future. Neon is substituted for a cutting-edge LED light source in this piece. Designer Rizzato covers the LEDs with a 3-dimensional figure structure made in metal.
