Poul Christiansen is a Danish lighting and furniture designer and architect. Born in 1947, Christiansen studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture. Starting in 1969, Christiansen designed innovative fixtures for Le Klint, discovering that folding in mathematical curves gave lampshades sculptural shapes instead of the pleat and straight-line folds Le Klint had been using. In 1987, he founded Komplot Design with Boris Berlin, a Russian furniture designer. In 2015, Komplot Design was awarded The Thorvald Bindesbøll Medal by the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts for industrial design. Poul Christiansen has won numerous awards for his furniture designs and continues to develop innovative lighting shades and fixtures for Le Klint.
