Pier Giacomo Castiglioni

Pier Giacomo Castiglioni was an acclaimed Italian designer, architect and professor. Born in 1913, Castiglioni, alongside his brothers Livio and Achille, founded the renowned design studio, Studio Achille Castiglioni, where they collaborated on numerous projects. Pier Giacomo's design philosophy emphasized simplicity, functionality and innovation. His keen eye for aesthetics and meticulous attention to detail resulted in the creation of designs that seamlessly blended form and function. Castiglioni's collaborations with brands such as FLOS and Alessi are perhaps his most recognizable, including the Arco Lamp and the Snoopy Table Lamp. He won numerous awards over his career, including five Compasso d’Oros between 1955-1967, a Triennale Bronze Medal in 1947 and two Triennale Grand Prix awards in 1951 and 1954. His works remain on permanent exhibition in several museums, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Royal Institute of British Architects in London and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. He died in Milan in 1968.
