Designer Emma Silvestris crafted the piece at the request and guidance of the Consorzio di Tutela Mozzarella di Bufala Campana DOP, a consortium with centuries of tradition creating one of Italy’s most iconic cheeses. Silvestri’s design plays with the symbol of fertility and abundance, the drop shape. Using it, she poetically hints at the unique horns of Italian buffaloes and the drops of milk they produce, an example of the storytelling voice in her work. The shape opens up to reveal a deep container made perfectly to caress your swimming orbs of stretchy cheese. When it’s time to serve, a mirror-polished stainless-steel ladle drains excess liquid with a stylish teardrop perforation. When not in use, the artful ladle showcases an s-curve that lays neatly on the rim of your charming container.
