Also known as the "Wishbone Chair," the Y-Chair by Hans J. Wegner (1950) is a blend of traditional Danish craft and artistic joinery inspired by Chinese forms. Its signature Y-shaped backrest resembles the natural forking of a branch, while the plaited twine seat is symbolic of grasses along Danish shores. The Vitra Miniature Y-Chair is a 1:6 scale model of the classic original, and was made using the same rustic materials and techniques.
