Using traditional methods, a slip (a mix of water and clay) is poured into a mold, and once set, the mold is split, and the shade is left to dry. The next day the china is fettled and sponged to get rid of any imperfections. The rounded base slightly rises, mounting the brass body which, in turn, leads to a matching, conical bone china shade that holds a single bulb. Each piece is made by highly skilled craftsmen in Stoke-on-Trent, England, where few porcelain factories remain. The light is bright and focused, bringing a high level of illumination precisely to the spaces that need it the most.
