Originally designed in 1948 by Greta Grossman, the GUBI Gräshoppa Floor Lamp embodied the industrial and functional requirements heralded by European Modernism, instead offering a more refined version that could comfortably fit in chic residences. A zoomorphic fixture standing on a tripod angles the smooth aluminum shade in a unique way, combining both the figurative and abstract with direct lighting in mind. The shade is attached on a ball joint for adjustability, making the Grasshopper a fine companion for living spaces that require gentle task lighting.
In 2001, Jacob and Sebastian Gubi took over their parent’s furniture business, transforming GUBI in to an internationally recognized design house for lighting, furniture, and accessories. Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, GUBI is a purveyor of timeless and emerging designs, many of which are iconic and can be found in permanent collections around the world.
