The sconce is an exploration of shape, created by Leucos Design Lab as a fusion of the sphere and ellipse. This delicate modern shape lets the skill and techniques of the world-renowned Murano glassblowing tradition come through clearly in the design. Using a technique called “incamiciato,” Italian for “layered,” master artisans blow layers of molten glass then fuse them to achieve a rich, milky surface. Light from inside accentuates the soft curves of the shape and the smooth color of the surface. This light radiates through the shape, creating a clean ambient glow underlined by a soft glaze across the wall.
Steeped in rich Venetian tradition, Leucos blends Old World glass craftsmanship with 21st century engineering in its quest to explore cutting-edge techniques and innovative aesthetics in lighting.
