Farmhouse Chandelier

The simple, natural charm of farmhouse style makes it a popular choice for modern homes. Farmhouse chandeliers, and other light fixtures and furniture, showcase a put-together look that inspires the rustic charm of living on a farm. Wood and metal are in abundance with this style and the finishes and materials are actually pristine and upscale, but made to look worn down and antique to inspire a feeling of rural living among nature. Upscale materials and finishes elevate the look of rustic chandeliers, making them classy, and elegant, giving them a chance to look great in just about any living space.

Chandeliers can be used throughout the house. Dining rooms are among the more common places to use them, but they can also be used in the kitchen or even to provide overhead lighting in bedrooms. For bedroom use, make sure the ceilings are high enough to accommodate so heads aren’t bumped while walking around the room. In the dining room, this shouldn’t be a problem as they will be over the center of the dining table.

How to Choose the Best Farmhouse Chandelier

In choosing a fixture, think about the overall decorative style of the home. The rustic style is more traditional in nature, though there are still plenty of modern chandeliers within this category. Visualize the chandelier considered in the chosen room to get a sense for how it will fit with the rest of the decor. Take note of the size as well; chandeliers are often large and elaborate, so make sure they don't overpower the space.

Once the fixture has been chosen for the home, there is a chance the rest of the décor will have to be updated to accommodate what is often a statement piece. Modern chandeliers can provide plenty of light, but they aren't necessarily designed to illuminate an entire room. Try layering light with farmhouse wall sconces and farmhouse pendant lighting to ensure light reaches all corners of the room. For chandeliers that are on the larger side, keep the rest of the decor relatively simple to allow the chandelier to command the most attention. With smaller farmhouse chandeliers, have a bit more fun with other decorative pieces.
