Traditional Chandeliers

If looking for a traditional and classic décor for your home, one that hearkens back to prior eras of history, look no further than a classic or traditional style. Called by multiple names, this look brings an antique touch to rooms of the home. Traditional chandeliers in particular are a great way to transform the space as they stand out in a foyer or at the entrance to a room. Traditional chandeliers often look elaborate and intricate, particularly so if the piece echoes the Victorian or Art Deco styles. Although not considered vintage or antique to many, as the years go on, consider a mid century modern look for the home. The simple lines and simple colors of these chandeliers bring comfort to the space.

Other Considerations

Like any other fixture, classic chandeliers need to have the dimensions checked to ensure they work in the space as desired. A piece that is too big or too small can actually clash with the room, even if the style is on point. Traditional chandeliers can be complex and full of details, which may overwhelm the room if other pieces do not match with it, even if it is adding light to the room. In this way, traditional or antique pieces need to be embraced so the room can match with them and so they don’t stand out in the wrong way. For any outdoor pieces, make sure the location rating is appropriate for the space it is going to be used in. If the chandelier has a wet rating, it can be directly exposed to water, but if it only has a damp rating, it can be in the same space as water, such as under a covered patio, but never directly exposed.

Once the antique look is established, it can be useful to transform the space further by adding more pieces. Consider adding classic and traditional pendant lights to continue the look. Pendant lights add a more direct source of light as they hang from the ceiling and are effective at bringing another layer of light whether alone or in a linear fashion with matching pendants.
