Inspired by classic merry-go-round rides found throughout traditional British fairground sites, the Lee Broom Carousel Chandelier is a ringed roundabout of illuminated delight. The silhouette is simple, yet entertainingly effective, with thirty polished round metal cans in turn creating a perfectly formed circle, each cylinder fitted with an integrated LED.
Mastering multiple design disciplines, Lee Broom is heavily inspired by the history of British design, from both a decorative and manufacturing perspective. His work regularly references his homeland’s past, though just as regularly offers a slight subversion of those traditional motifs and techniques in his contemporary recontextualizations. Since 2010, he's been collecting British Design Awards on a regular basis, including recognition in 2011 as Designer of the Year and a 2012 nod for his Crystal Bulb, a modern reframing of traditional cut crystal craftsmanship.
