Expression through unpredictability. The 38.3 Multi-Light Pendant from Bocci keeps the eyes fixated with organically shaped passages of smooth handblown glass. The pendant’s sculptural personality follows creator Omer Arbel’s idea that pieces should respect materials and process. This piece also respects the home through a compact canopy and slender wire suspension. The wires hold a group of clear glass spheres that pull the eyes in like a snow globe display. Inside, opaque blown glass vessels flow into each other like a natural object with delicate, unpredictable contours. Warm light exits the vessels evenly in a warm, subdued glow. The cavities of each vessel take in one’s small decoration for added charm.
Based in Vancouver, Canada, Bocci was started in 2005 by Omer Arbel as an in-house design company dedicated to creating exemplary products through material research. Bocci’s facilities handle all stages of development and production, including a multi-disciplinary collaboration between designers, architects and artisans. This cooperative environment excels in material advancement, constantly evolving Bocci’s collection with an emphasis on bespoke and high-quality product design.
