While the majority of lamps Wirkkala designed for serial production were conceived between 1959 and 1961, the Artek Pendant Lamp TW002 was the earliest, first introduced in 1951 as the Triennale light. This reintroduction features the same conical turn-molded opalescent glass, originally made for the Finnish Pavilion at the Milan Triennale.
Founded in Finland in 1935 by four self-proclaimed idealists, Artek stands strong on the company's ethics, product aesthetics and ecology. With products that offer the Scandinavian look--clean lines, minimal fluff--Artek has built a line that incorporates a modern, approachable appeal into modern furniture and lighting design.
The Pendant Lamp TW002 is available with the following:
- Satin opal glass shade
- Round ceiling canopy
- 78" fabric-covered suspension cable
- Designed by Tapio Wirkkala, 1951
- Fixture: Height 11.81", Diameter 9.44"
- Suspension: Length Adjustable To 92.17"
- Cable: Length 78"
