The Nemo Ark Story
Based in Milan, Italy, Nemo Ark lighting has a history that goes back much further than the actual founding of Nemo Ark in 2001. To produce modern lighting that enhances spaces with technological innovation and graceful forms, Nemo Ark found the 1940s post-war period to be the start of the best era of Italian lighting design.
Over the past decade, Nemo Ark has compiled an impressively cohesive collection of such Italian design classics and new original designs. All Nemo Ark lighting is designed and produced in Italy, and distributed in the U.S. by Illuminating Experiences, which also distributes other Italian lighting brands like De Majo, Le Klint, Nemo and more.
Why We Love Nemo Ark Lighting
Despite the decades that separate the designs of Italian masters--like Vico Magistretti, Piero Castiglioni and Carlo Porcolini--and designs from today, their aesthetics all work together in perfect harmony in Nemo Ark. This is because all of the lighting fixtures share common inspiration from the Rationalist school of Italian lighting design. As such, these fixtures pair high performance with sober, yet graceful, industrial design. This pragmatic approach to design never sacrifices a fixture's light dispersal and ease of use for aesthetics.
A Fun Fact About Nemo Ark
