As Seen in Dwell December 2012
Originally designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1958 for the Royal hotel in Copenhagen, the Egg Chair has become an iconic representative of Scandinavian Design. The chair’s sculptural curves were designed to contrast with the hotel’s austere lines and provide privacy and comfort in the hotel lobby. Turn back the clock another 27 years, when Christian Dell designed the KAISER idell collection, with smooth brass domes and sleek Bauhaus form that also became a hallmark of Danish aesthetics. The simple, clean lines of these two classics manage to have a grounded place in history while transitioning seamlessly into today’s modern living.
Pairing art with science has long been a strategy for designers among all industries, but Tech Lighting has mastered the two exceptionally well. The Chicago-based company has become a leader in both innovative technology and sophisticated design, traveling the globe to gain inspiration from everything from furniture to fashion. Add in precision engineering, and Tech's line embodies the key elements of lighting to match any taste or style. Across all Tech Lighting brands—which include Wilmette Lighting and Tech-Tiella Lighting—every detail counts.
