A fabulous find for fine-feathered friends. Made by the premier (and only) glass maker in Switzerland, the Hergiswil Glass Bird Feeder features a sphere of clear mouth-blown glass with an opening angled just so for easy feeding. The design of the piece also allows for a convenient perch to jut all the way through without any loss of birds' nibbles. Designed by Roberto Niederer.
Hergiswil Glass, or Glasi Hergiswil in its native Swiss, is a glassworks that has been operating on the shores of Lake Lucerne since 1817. Once on the verge of closure, the company was saved--and its creative spirit revived--by the technological and artistic advancements put into place by self-proclaimed "glass freak" Roberto Niederer in 1975. Since then, the craft of glassblowing at Hergiswil Glass remains in a perpetual Renaissance, with glass expertly wielded to turn common objects into shimmering works of art.
The Bird Feeder is available with the following:
- Made of mouth-blown borosilicate glass
- Turned wood perch
- Hanger included
- Designed by Roberto Niederer
- Made in Switzerland
