In addition to supplying power, a Tech Lighting Surface Transformer is a decorative, visible component in a rail lighting system. As such, in addition to being available in a wide variety of power options, its form is pleasantly sleek and rounded and is available in several attractive finishes.

A surface transformer is best-suited for applications where there is an existing junction box in a finished ceiling. It has an integral power feed, so there is no need for a separate power feed; however, the surface transformer must be placed within range of the rail or cable run. All surface mount transformers mount to a standard 4" ceiling junction box with a round plaster ring (provided by most electricians).
