Jasper Morrison. One of today's most influential industrial designers, Jasper Morrison has designed everything from forks to a tram system. As described by critic Charles Arthur Boyer, Morrison's design ethos is "to produce everyday objects for everyone's use, make things lighter not heavier, softer not harder, inclusive rather than exclusive, and generate energy, light and space." Read More This philosophy of universal style and functionality was formed within Morrison at an early age. Influenced by modernist pioneers such as Le Corbusier and Buckminster Fuller, he was also inspired by the first exhibition of the post-modern designs of the Memphis Group (founded by Ettore Sottsass) in 1981. The latter especially opened Morrison's eyes and excited him: "Here was proof that none of the old design rules mattered anymore." In other words, the sky was the limit. From the very beginning of his career, Morrison has remained focused on design for industrial production. To that end, he has formed collaborations with a number of popular lighting and home furnishings manufacturers, such as Vitra, Cappellini, Magis, Rosenthal, Rowenta, Flos and Alessi Design. The number and variety of such collaborations have also proven beneficial for Morrison on a creative level. His designs are almost universally sleek and formal, but also with a hint of good humor. This is especially evident when perusing the extensive Jasper Morrison for Alessi line of cooking implements, glassware and tableware. Meanwhile, Jasper Morrison lighting solutions-such as the Flos Glo-Ball Collection of lamps-literally generate the energy, light and sense of space Morrison continues to aim for. Lumens carries Jasper Morrison designs for the Alessi and Flos Lighting brands. If you don't see the Jasper Morrison product you want, please Contact Us or call us at 877.445.4486. Collapse | |
